Greetings Earthlings, I am so excited to share this with you all! Just over a year ago I was hired to illustrate a look-book for Wilensky Minerals, called “LORE”. It is a high-quality catalogue that they publish each year showing off their fantastic crystalline specimens, and in this cased, the illustrations were for an upcoming exhibit they are having at the 2026 Tucson Gem and Mineral Festival at the Tucson Fine Mineral Gallery.
For the commission, I was charged with creating scenes that featured my weird alien creatures along with the Wilensky’s ACTUAL crystal specimens. This project was so cool and fun for me to work on. I love crystals! And the guys at Wilensky Minerals were amazing to work with! Seriously, dream job! I’m so grateful.
I wish I had taken more pictures. Erica and had so much fun meeting everyone at the gallery. They even brought in the local news and I gave an awkward interview. While in the desert we met a friend that we had made on Instagram who took us for a hike and showed us the local plant life. We went to the art museum, and checked out a few vegan spots too. (Sadly there are few vegan restaurants in Fort Wayne.)
I have a lot of family in Arizona, and I got to see my parents on the trip which was awesome. Although we are happy were we live, Erica and I definitely fantasized a little about moving to the desert. Tucson is a great city, and I hope to visit again soon!
