Commissions:

Greetings Earthling, thoughout the years I have been lucky enough to receive quite a few commission projects from private collectors, bands, brands, and for the entertainment industry. Painting is my greatest love and I am so grateful to every client—past, present, and future—for this type of work. It’s so fun to collaborate and share my paintings with others.

I am almost always open to taking on a collaboration project. If you are interested in a custom painting, here are a few things to consider:

At this time I am only working within the United States. Sadly I don’t feel comfortable shipping a one-of-a-kind item through customs and dealing with language barriers, duties, and import tax. These pieces take 60-100+ hours to make and I just don’t want to risk something unforeseen happening to the work. Sorry friends!
The subject matter is loosely within the scope of what I currently paint. I want every piece that I make to turn out awesome, and if the painting is too out of my wheelhouse—like it would look strange in my portfolio—I might pass.
Finally, you agree to pay a 50% deposit (this allows me to order the frame, wood panel, groceries, pet food, and other art supplies); the final 50% must be paid before it ships.

14x18 = $1,690

16x20 (average size) = $1,900

18x24 (average size) = $2,220

24X24 (album) = $2,535

20x30 = $2,645.00

24x30 = $2,855.00

24x36 = $3,175.75

36x36 = $3,810.00

What is included:

The painting will come framed. The frames that I order are simple but tasteful. If you desire a super duper-fancy gilded frame, you will have to pay extra—which we can discuss—but the base price covers a simple frame.

A high-resolution image is provided—mostly for the benefit of bands and illustration projects. And finally,
Shipping is included in the price as well.

For album covers, books, and other illustration commissions, I treat these the same way I would with a private collector commissioning art. Yes, you get a high resolution image that you can use for your project and you also receive the framed oil painting as well.

Process:

We collaborate and figure out the concept. I think this is best done over the phone or a video chat so I can take lots of notes. If we are in agreement with the project and direction, we can schedule it on the calendar. After I receive the 50% deposit (usually Venmo), the project begins and I will start drawing and order the materials.
After a little bit of time (maybe a week) I will submit a sketch for your approval. Once approved, I start painting.
From start to finish, the painting will probably take about a month or a little more before it is all ready for shipping. Oil painting is slow…but awesome. Along the way, you might see a few work-in-progress posts on social media. I love documenting the process. If you want me to keep this part secret until a release, like for an album or a special illustration project, then just let me know.
After the piece is completed and the image is delivered, the second 50% is due.
Finally, the painting ships out, and your home, office, or recording studio will be enchanted with an object that will bring you, your friends, and your family many years of spooky joy and weird conversations.

Other details:

I reserve the right to add your commission to my portfolio, to post it on the internet, and to make prints if the painting is suitable for that. I take a lot of pride in my work and want every piece that I make to be as top-notch as possible. I prefer to communicate through email, or phone rather than through direct messages on social media. (Messages on these platforms can get lost and I don’t want to lose anyone’s message. :) )
